YEAR 10 DANCE OVERVIEW

Dance
Year 10 Dance offers students the opportunity to further their fitness, flexibility, performance and choreographic skills. Students are encouraged to creatively solve choreographic tasks, work in groups to present performances and to appreciate the beauty of dance through viewing amateur and professional productions.
Students are encouraged to become involved in the creative process of a dance performance including choreography, music selection, costume and lighting design.
- Course content includes:
- Safe dance practices.
- Communicating using dance terminology.
- Performing small and large group choreography.
- Responding to, reflecting on and evaluating dance.
- Dance technique.
- Role of dance in contemporary society in history.
Students will have performance opportunities, including Choreography Night, and may perform at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival and/or Awards Night in Semester Two.
