Marine Science
This year-long elective covers three components: diving, fishing/fisheries management, and sailing. In the diving component, students use underwater cameras to photograph organisms, then conduct research and reporting on their findings. They also get to experience SCUBA diving at AQWA's Adventure Bay Aquarium. The fishing component focuses on shore-based fishing and introduces concepts of sustainable fisheries management through "Fishing for the Future." The third component involves an eight-week sailing course at Hillarys Yacht Club, where students progress through the Start Sailing Right 1 course, covering preparation, equipment, ropework, safety, skills, and sailing theory.
