Metals Technology

This course aims to build on students’ skills developed in previous years through a set of increasingly complex projects.

While the course is structured in the metalworking operations learnt, tasks are open-ended enough to encourage individuality and independence of work. Students will have the opportunity to develop and design their own machined, fabricated and/or welded projects and follow areas of interest within this subject.

Projects include a camp BBQ, a décor table, a tool box and folding spade, covering a range of skills and understandings in metal and related materials.

This course is a valuable stepping stone into the Year 11 Materials D&T: Metals course, or for students simply interested in the metal machining and fabrication industry.
