CareerLink places the students in a specific industry of their choice. The benefits of CareerLink for students include:
A greater understanding of the world of work.
Increases self esteem, confidence and responsibility.
A greater understanding of the workplace to what is taught at school.
Further develops personal and communication skills.
Enhanced prospects of entry into State Training Providers, alternative university entry pathways and other post school destinations.

Workplace Learning – Endorsed Programme
Workplace Learning (WL) focuses on the development of 29 entry level skills which are based on the Key Competencies: Collecting, Analysing and Organising Information; Communicating Ideas and Information; Planning and Organising Activities; Working with Others and in Teams; Using Mathematical Ideas and Techniques; Solving Problems and Using Technology. It allows students to better understand theory they have learned by putting it into practice as well as providing them with a first hand experience of industry, helping them to be more realistic in their career choices as well as developing an awareness of the link between school, work and further education.

CareerLink Trade Taster Program- Term 2 to 4
All Year 10 students are offered the opportunity to join CareerLink for a Trade Taster program from Terms 2-4. Information will be sent to Year 10 students in Term 1, 2023 regarding this program.
The Trade taster program is for students who may be interested in following a Trade pathway in Year 11 and 12, and/or possible Certificate courses and Apprenticeships in their post-secondary school years.
Year 10 students who wish to be part of the program will attend the North Metropolitan TAFE in Balga for a full day's tuition, workshops and demonstrations in Term 2 and 3. In term 4, students will attend a work placement on Tuesdays. Students who decide at the completion of the program that they do not wish to engage in a trade pathway or on the CareerLink program for Years 11/12 are not obliged to do so, and can continue with their chosen subjects at Sacred Heart College in Year 11 and 12.
The Trade Taster is set up to inspire year 10 students, giving them a practical insight into pre apprenticeship courses and careers in a variety of trade pathways. The content is more hands-on and less assessment. There are 16 spots available for the course. The course will include an excursion to the Construction Futures Centre and visits to various trade centres on the Balga Campus. It will also include a White Card qualification.

Please note: The Year 10 offerings are likely to change in 2024.
