Year 11 Engineering Studies - Mechatronic Specialist (ATAR)
Course Description
The Engineering Studies ATAR course provides opportunities for students to investigate, research and present information, design and make products and undertake project development. These opportunities allow students to apply engineering processes, understand underpinning scientific and mathematical principles, develop engineering technology skills and explore the interrelationships between engineering and society. The Engineering Studies ATAR course is essentially a practical course focusing on real‐life contexts. It aims to prepare students for a future in an increasingly technological world by providing the foundation for life‐long learning about engineering. It is particularly suited to those students who are interested in engineering and technical industries as future careers. Students use state-of-the-art hardware and software including 3D printing, lasers and Arduino microcontrollers in their projects.
Units 1 and 2
The course covers Core Engineering and Specialist Engineering (Mechatronics).
In Core Engineering, the students study and apply their knowledge in the following areas common to all engineering fields:
- Engineering Process
- Engineering Understandings
- Engineering Technology skills
- Engineering in Society
In the Mechatronic Specialist area students study and apply their knowledge in:
| Electrical/electronics | Systems and control | Mechanics |
