The University of Notre Dame Australia (NDA) is a Catholic independent university situated in Fremantle. NDA does not rely solely on the ATAR to determine university entrance and their selection system for Notre Dame is different from the other Universities. Applicants apply to the University directly OR through the Tertiary Institutions Services Centre (TISC).

Selection Criteria for NDA:

a) Full academic records for Years 11 and 12, including the WASSA

b) Meet WACE requirements

c) Should have an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (minimum rank of 70.00 or higher). A Certificate Level IV, will also be considered for admission for select courses. This excludes direct entry into Law, Medicine and Education.

d) A personal statement provided by the student in a form of an essay, outlining individual qualities, goals and motivation for seeking admission to NDA.

e) References from school and work contacts.

f) A completed application form including supporting documentation.

g) Personal interview with a member of the University.

Alternative Entry to NDA:
The Tertiary Pathway Program is a 13-week, one semester program which runs twice a year for students who have not met academic requirements for admission. Students should submit an application to the course of their choice at NDA and they will be advised as to whether they have been accepted into the course or whether they should apply for the Tertiary Pathway Program. Students/parents should check the NDA website for details.

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE - PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN WA

In order to qualify for admission to Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University or The University of Western Australia, a student must fulfil the following criteria:

a) Meet the WACE requirements prescribed by SCSA.

b) Achieve English Language Competence as prescribed by the individual universities.

c) Attain a sufficiently high ATAR or meet entry standards via alternative pathways (such as a Certificate IV) for entry to a particular university course .

d) Satisfy any prerequisites or special requirements for entry to particular courses.

A student wishing to gain direct entry into University should note the following requirements:

  1. Students will select six accredited courses (in Years 11 and 12) including Religion and Life.
  2. A minimum of four ATAR courses needs to be chosen in Year 12.
  3. It is compulsory for a student to study either English or Literature.
  4. The Tertiary Entrance Aggregate (TEA) will be determined on the sum of the best four ATAR Courses studied in Year 12. Only Year 12 marks are used to determine a student’s ATAR.
  5. Course prerequisites for university courses of interest must be met.
  6. Students who achieve a majority of C and B grades in Year 10 should consider taking five ATAR Courses and one General Course in Year 11.
  7. Students who achieve a majority of A grades in Year 10 should consider taking six ATAR Courses in Year 11.
