Metals Technology

This course develops the safe working practices already formed in Years 7 and 8, whilst giving students a basic understanding of design, technical drawings and technical vocabulary.

Students will work with a range of metals in a wide range of basic processes (eg. sheet metal fabrication, forming, lathe work, MIG welding, project construction, basic tapping/threading and finishing). They will be encouraged to develop simple design sketches of their projects and to solve practical problems through investigating and defining, designing ,producing and implementing, evaluating and collaborating and managing. Projects include a Components Box, a Weather Vane and a Desk Tidy.
