Wood Technology

In this elective, woodworking skills previously learnt in Years 7 and 8 will be further developed throughout the course. Students are given more scope for design using a higher level of machinery to produce some impressive products. The full design process is taught with the use of industry standard design software, Fusion 360, to produce final 3D presentation and technical drawings to follow when manufacturing various products. Laser cutters, lathes, bandsaws, and routers are a few of the machines’ students will use as they produce a trinket box, a kitchen tray, and a mechanical pen. This is a largely a hands-on course for practical students who enjoy a challenge in the workshop.
